There are times when I can get through six books in a week, and there are times when I slowly plod through books at a rate of one an eon. You can guess which stage I’m in right now.
I’m not usually one for reading slumps though; I tend to be reading at all times, whether or not I’m reading multiple books at once like at my peak times. However, even the books that are grabbing my attention aren’t working for me right now, so I’m going to admit I’m in a reading slump.
It’s not important to me how many books I read in sheer numerical form, despite being a fan of the Goodreads challenge. No, I just don’t like the thought of all those books out there that I want to get to but haven’t yet. I want to read because I love wanting to read, not because I’m chasing an arbitrary goal.
Do you get reading slumps? How do you deal with them?
For me, it doesn’t bother me that much these days. I would like to be reading more but I have had a busy, fun, and draining few weeks with a visit to England to see my family and then eleven days with my sister visiting me here in Canada. It’s taking me a while to recover from that and get back into my groove. I’m mostly back in line with my language habits, so soon I’m sure my reading will pick up.
Reading is for fun and I miss it. Here’s hoping I’ll be back on an upswing any day now.
